After a few friends and acquaintances brought this topic to me - I felt the need to writing a little "woowoo" post. Afterall - part of the designer, artist, and co-creators' role is to shake things up and bring about new perspectives. This one particularly resonated with me, so hear me out!
Since the idea of La Vagabonde, the main focus has been around natural fibers, sustainability, and biodegradability. I have been dedicated to understanding better how the materials we choose can impact not only the planet but also our well-being. Wearing and being around linen makes me feel so comfortable, elevated, and filled with positive energy. In the ever-evolving world of textiles, *high-frequency fabrics* are making waves for their potential to influence energy, health, and comfort - maybe there is something worth exploring there!
Although the concept of fabric emitting healing or harmful frequencies is not considered nor accepted by mainstream science, and comes from alternative medicines, I have been meeting more and more people talking about how comfortable, irritating, elevating, uncomfortable, breathable, smelly etc. certain types of fabrics can be to them.
So let's jump into the high-frequency topic!
What Are High Frequency Fabrics?
All in the Universe and the Earth, from the air we breath to the clothes that we wear, is composed of atoms that vibrate at different speeds- which is what we refer to as frequency. High-frequency fabrics are materials that interact with the body’s natural energy, helping to balance, protect, or enhance the biofield—our personal electromagnetic field. These textiles are often infused with minerals or composed of fibers that resonate with or shield from certain frequencies. Linen as a natural fiber holds a unique place among these fabrics due to its inherent qualities that naturally support the body’s energy flow.
Why Linen is Considered High Frequency
Linen, derived from the flax plant, is one of the oldest and most sustainable fibers used in textiles. What makes linen special is its molecular structure, which is believed to resonate at a higher frequency than many synthetic or even natural fibers like cotton.
Here are some reasons linen qualifies as a high-frequency fabric:
1.
Natural Conductivity: Linen’s unique structure allows it to naturally conduct energy. It helps regulate the body’s temperature and supports proper airflow, which promotes better rest and comfort, particularly during sleep. Linen can be both cooling in the summer and insulating in colder climates, maintaining a balanced environment for the body.
2. Anti-Static Properties: Unlike synthetic fabrics that tend to accumulate static electricity, linen remains anti-static, preventing the build-up of harmful electrical charges. This keeps your biofield in balance, which can be especially beneficial for those sensitive to the electromagnetic fields (EMFs) produced by modern technology.
3. Naturally Antibacterial and Hypoallergenic: Linen has natural antibacterial properties that contribute to its high-frequency status. By reducing the presence of bacteria and allergens, linen creates a cleaner, healthier environment for the body to rest and recharge.
4. Durability and Environmental Harmony: The longevity and sustainability of linen mean that this fabric is not only good for your body but also kind to the planet. Its natural cultivation process minimizes environmental impact, and its long-lasting fibers mean fewer replacements—an investment in both health and sustainability.
Incorporating Linen into High-Frequency Living
So here we go! La Vagabonde has already been integrating to the next level by incorporating linen into everything from clothing to home essentials. We started with activewear and crochet pieces and we are rapidly expanding our offerings to accessories, and utilitarian goods for the home. As we work on creating a hemp&linen-based futon and pillows covered in linen fabric, we’re excited about the benefits these products can offer (more to come on this later). Hemp, like linen, is known for its high-frequency properties, and together they create a powerful synergy for both relaxation and restoration:
- Linen Bedding and Sleep: Since linen naturally promotes airflow and helps regulate temperature, it’s an ideal fabric for items like futons and bedding linens. The combination of hemp for structure and linen for the cover provides both comfort and energy flow support, potentially enhancing the quality of your sleep and overall well-being.
- Energy Balance: By integrating linen into your everyday living—whether through clothing or bedding—you’re essentially choosing a material that aligns with the body's natural rhythm. Designed to help you rest in an environment that supports your biofield, giving you deeper, more restful sleep, and supporting your waking life.
Why Choose Linen for High-Frequency Living?
Linen isn’t just a practical choice; it’s a mindful one. The high-frequency properties of linen make it a fabric that supports not only physical comfort but also energetic wellness. As you incorporate linen into your daily routine, from the clothes you wear to the bedding you rest on, you’re surrounding yourself with materials that help balance and enhance your energy levels.
Although "high-frequency" was not part of La Vagabonde's origin story, the intent was to work with the thread, fibers, and textiles that brough me joy, comfort, and inspiration throughout my waking and dreaming life and that mindful materials can make a world of difference. Linen, with its high-frequency characteristics, is a staple in our commitment to sustainable, wellness-focused fashion and home goods. Whether you’re lounging in our linen athleisure pieces or relaxing on our upcoming hemp-linen futon, you’re investing in a lifestyle that honors both your body and the environment.
